The story starts off with a man who was walking and heard an owl. When he reached the end of the woods he built a fire to lay down for the night. He heard a voice say "My son! My son!" Being frighten, he ripped a hold in his blanket to peep out of. Hearing twigs break, he saw a woman walk up and started to mess with the man. Acting asleep the woman pulled out a rusty knife to cut off the mans foot. Before she could, the man jumped up and the woman fled back into the woods.
The next day the man walked further along the woods and found a place to rest. He built a fire and he heard someone singing. The singer asked the man if he had any wasna. After refusing, the man gave the singer some wasna. The singer was a ghost that had no flesh. As the ghost smoked the pipe, the smokes fled right out of its ribs.
The ghost said the man must wrestle him to leave the forest. The man and ghost agreed and the man won by kicking a log onto the fire and the flames shot up. The ghost led the man out of the forest and showed him where the local horses were.
The man killed his enemy and stole horses, and the story came out just like the ghost said it would. That is why people believe what ghosts say.
