Week 4 Lab ; Crash Course

In the first episode it breaks down what a myth is and how it is not necessarily saying something did happen or isn’t real, but a story that was told. But there isn’t a good definition of myths. He briefly went of the greek myth of seasons is about how Hates took Kore (or Persephone) and gave her pomegranate seeds to eat. The 6 seeds she ate signifies that she must spend 6 months of the year with Hades. Many stories are built on a binary aspect. This is where the structure is build on woman and man, good vs bad, humans and animals, or even gods and demands. All stories have their own structure and some believe they were made up from our subconscious. In the third video it covered heroes. In a story about heroes, they must start out at home, go on a journey and return home. These stories are called monomyths and are built upon 17 steps.

These videos are a good start for anyone who doesn’t know much about mythology. It breaks it down and explains stories very well! From just watching the 3 short videos, I found myself wanting to watch more! I really suggest these videos!
